Belinda was born in Singapore and brought up in rural Malaysia; her Eastern roots have had more influences on her than she ever thought possible. At the age of seven she was sent to boarding school in England and was given two special gifts by her parents; a small treasure box containing seven glass jewels and a glittering glass diamond, from her mother, and a globe from her father. During those first early years at school she would polish her jewels every night in her dormitory as a form of escapism in order to prevent home-sickness from taking hold. After she left school life quickly gained momentum from treading the catwalk as a model to training as a SRN nurse at The Middlesex Hospital, London to finding her creative path as a fashion designer with a range of clothing called Belinda Jane - Belinda embraced every opportunity. After she married and the birth of her two daughters she decided to put Belinda Jane on hold and concentrate on her family and trained as a Reflexologist. Then a few years ago Belinda hit a particularly difficult time in her personal life and discovered that somewhere along the line she had lost her sense of self, her confidence, and what had originally made her unique had become diminished. One day while spring cleaning her attic she found her treasure box. Opening the lid to see all the jewels still there, after fifty years, lifting her heart just as they had always used to. Belinda was drawn to pick up the glass ruby and, as she started to polish it, she began to think about her life purpose and sensed that something within her was stirring.. she picked up her pen and started to write … Every day she would take out another jewel to see what she was inspired to write about and noticed that each of the jewels led her to consider a different facet of her life that she needed to get into balance as a way to getting back on track .Over the past few years she has been on a journey of self- discovery driven by a passion to encourage girls and women in particular to value and empower themselves. The Seven Jewels of Life is Belinda’s inspiring call to everyone - regardless of age or gender - to take time for themselves and join her on the journey towards greater personal fulfilment.
Private thoughts, words of support and enlightening poetry combine in The Seven Jewels of Life as Belinda leads us through her three stages of self-realisation, Introducing readers to the jewels Belinda suggests a formula using seven jewels to represent seven areas of our weekly lives from Monday, which is represented by a Ruby and focusses on discovering your Life Purpose to Sunday which is represented by an Amethyst and focuses on your Health – Body, Mind, and Spirit. This organically guides you towards your own unique dreams and destiny, ultimately leading you to discover the Diamond in your Heart – which reflects all the colours of each of the jewels
Belinda offers her own personal ‘Gems of Wisdom’ which she picked up during her own journey and provides accessible prompts and tools to help answer questions about your own ambitions. The final stage highlights the ideas of how our false beliefs and the sad stories we tell ourselves can often prevent us from finding true happiness and Belinda encourages you to question and challenge your sad thoughts as the first step on your journey of transformation and empowerment.
Warm, open and honest in its approach, The Seven Jewels of Life rekindles the spark in everyone, encouraging us to believe that it’s never too late to make positive - even dramatic - changes in life.
